I am in that self imposed exile known as graduate school, in London. I am one year into an intensive filmmaking program and have come to dream of film and about film. This journal celebrates the relationship that exists between all artistic mediums but particularly visual media. It especially celebrates the spirit of the bauhaus school during it's period in Dessau, Germany. It was during this time that photography began to be taught to the students of this most influential art school, although the medium had been used by students to document their work in arts and crafts.

The photography of the bauhaus is typified by the use of unusual angles, and darkroom techniques such as double exposures and photograms, to introduce a new way of seeing an object. bauhaus also incorporated photos with text in a style that became the modern format for graphic design. I have a similar aesthetic in my still photography and am trying to merge this aesthetic with motion film.

The bauhaus school broke down the barriers between the arts maintained by traditional art schools, laying the foundation for the modern art education. I write from the heart of this destruction.

I am an Arab-American feminist with a gothic-punk upbringing.
